January 11th is Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
Human trafficking is the second largest crime industry in the world.
It is modern day slavery.
It does not just happen in third-world cultures.
It does not warrant your blind eye because it might not seem relevant to you.
It is happening in your country; possibly your state, your CITY.
In other words, it -is- relevant.
Awareness starts with you.
Don’t choose to be ignorant.

Today, as many of you already know by now, is Human Trafficking Awareness day. It’s heartbreaking what’s happening around the world. Quoting “Against Our Will” campaign on slavery and trafficking abroad:
“Human trafficking takes place all over the world, especially in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Between 12 and 27 million people worldwide are estimated to be enslaved.”
27 million! Little girls as young as 12 years old are being forced to work in prostitution, for men that are older than 35 years old, without even keeping the money they’re making for themselves!! How sad is that? And what’s even worse is when I came to help by simply spreading some tweets, it seemed like my 1900+ followers were just…useless. I don’t know about those who actually “took actions” after reading them, but not so many retweeted. I was surprised. Why wouldn’t they help by simply retweeting? Did we really get that far? What’s happening to us?
A wise man once said “be the change you want to see in the world,” and for that I’m still having hope, and still posting banners, links, and tweets on every social networking profile and/or website I have. I did what I could, and I’ll try my best to do more, and I hope you would do so too after reading this.
